Jack is a friendly, medium-large sized boy, weighing 67 pounds and is approximately 18 months old. He is playful and energetic but also loves snuggling on the couch to watch a movie. He gets along well with children, adults, cats, and other dogs. Jack was abandoned in a shelter because his family could no longer take care of him. He is very loving and affectionate. He was an outside dog for the first 9 months of his life chained to a barn. When he arrived in our home, everything was so new and exciting to him such as dog toys, treat bones, soft dog beds, belly rubs, plenty of food, and lots of love and attention. He absolutely loves lying at your feet while you rub him especially on the belly He is nervous riding in the car but settles down quickly for a nice ride. He travels well and loves visiting new places. We have taken him to several pet stores, the vet, lumber stores, the park, etc. He really enjoys meeting new people He accepts grooming with little fuss. We have bathed him without much resistance at all. He allows us to trim his nails with only a little whining. He tolerates being brushed He loves running outdoors and dog wrestling. He can play a little too rough at times and does not always know when to quit. He can come on a bit strong when first meeting new friends. He would probably do best with a large breed dog as a companion. He loves being where people are outdoors or indoors. He walks well on a leash with minimal pulling He is crate trained and will enter the crate willingly. He sleeps in his crate most nights. He has not pottied in the crate or in the house. We take him out every 4-6 hours except overnight. He has slept out of his crate overnight several times sleeping in bed with my youngest sons. He often retreats to chill out in his crate when life gets overwhelming. We feed twice a day (morning and evening). He does not mind people moving or removing his food or treats. He will wait patiently for his dinner and treats when told to sit He loves to chew. His favorites are raw beef bones and sterilized beef bones with frozen treats inside like peanut butter, yogurt, or soft dog food. He also loves the Kong toys filled with treats. He will chew on dog toys if they are handy for him but will occasionally borrow a slipper or sock. His chewing should not be a problem as long as he has toys and appropriate things to chew on Jack did fine when taken around cats. He sniffs and ignores them usually and will leave them alone if he is corrected when taking too much interest Jack absolutely adores children and would be a wonderful family pet. We have had him around children as young as 3 years old but could test him with toddlers and babies if necessary He shows great potential and is willing to learn. He wants to please. He is very fast and agile and loves to jump. He would make a great agility dog for someone willing to put in the time to train him. His only problem right now is that he can (and does) jump and climb fences under 6. The right home for Jack will be one that provides the leadership, structure, and training that he has been lacking in his life. Jack is blossoming and in time, with consistent guidance and affection, he is growing into a fabulous companion. You are guaranteed a lifetime of love and kisses with Jack in your life. Jack is housebroken and responds to basic commands. He is altered, UTD on shots, HW negative, and microchipped.
