Fast growing conifer. Once established under favorable conditions can make outstanding annual rates of gain. The US National Arboritum publishes an online document on the Green Giant ("http://www.usna.usda.gov/Newintro/grgiant.pdf"} wherein they say, among other things:

An adaptable "giant," it tolerates a wide range of soil and hardiness zones and is not troubled by significant pest or disease problems. 'Green Giant' is ornamentally appealing as a single specimen, as a screen, or as a living frame for your special landscape.

And at "http://www.usna.usda.gov/Gardens/faqs/GreenGiant.html", the first trees planted at the National Arboritum in 1998 in a hedge with 6 1/2' spacing (pictured below) have grown to approximately 20 ft in height, and it has also been observed ... "Additionally, deer grazing does not appear to be a problem for these hardy trees—certainly a beneficial quality for landscape plants."

Ideal for a privacy hedge, wind screen, or as a prominent feature in any landscaping scheme, the "Green Giant" will outgrow the Eastern Arborvitae to provide more privacy or wind protection in much less time. Three foot trees are $20.00 each, volume discounts (5% per successive lot of 20 up to 100) and installation available. We grow these trees here on our farm, and larger sizes are also available.
